Hull City winger Robert Snodgrass has hit out at Slovakia defender Martin Skrtel after his challenge on Wales midfielder Jonny Williams.

The incident took place in the first-half of Wales' 2-1 victory over Slovakia on Saturday afternoon when Skrtel challenged Williams in the Slovakia box.

Replays showed that the Liverpool defender had led with his elbow when challenging Williams, with fans incensed that the official on the goal-line failed to spot the challenge.

Snodgrass, who won promotion with Hull this season, tweeted his disgust with the challenge from Skrtel, calling him "Eddie the Elbow."

There were a number of other challenges during the game from Skrtel that drew criticism with fans, with many amazed that he wasn't booked until the game reached added time.

Wales took the lead during the game thanks to a free-kick from Gareth Bale that caught the Slovakia goalkeeper out of position.

Ondrej Duda equalised for Slovakia with a fine goal, before substitute Hal Robson-Kanu squeezed in the winner late on.

The result leaves Slovakia needing to win at least one and maybe both of their remaining games against Russia and England to stand any chance of qualifying.

As well as the top two in each group the four best third-placed sides will also qualify for the last 16 of the Euros.
