'WE DESERVE THIS' Euro 2016: Chris Coleman calls on Wales to ‘dare to dream’ after unbelievable last-eight victory over Belgium
Saturday, July 02, 2016 Source: Thesun.co.ukCHRIS COLEMAN could barely hide his delight as Wales stunned Belgium to reach the Euro 2016 semi-finals and declared: ‘We deserve this’.
The Welsh boss, 46, praised his ‘offensive’ side for dominating Marc Wilmots team – who had taken an early lead in Lille.
But Coleman was not shocked that his side picked off the Belgians in the second half – because he set the team up to do just that.
When asked if he was surpised, he replied: “No! To be honest, we knew it was going to be a tough game.
“I said before the game, we’re not here to enjoy. We’re here to compete, we have a good team. There is more to come.”
The Welsh contingent were outnumbered but were in incredible voice throughout - and Coleman had special praise for the travelling fans.
And the boss knows that with Gareth Bale, Aaron Ramsey and Joe Allen in the side, they have a chance against anybody.
He continued: "It was like playing in Brussels but our fans were unbelievable.
"You got players like Ramsey, Bale, Allen, players of that ilk, we have to pass the ball. It gets the best out of the team.
"Everybody on this team can pass, whoever we play. That was our only gripe against England. We were determined to do that tonight.
"We wanted to show people we were an offensive team."
Sam Vokes came off the bench to net a dramatic late third, which sealed the victory - and Coleman was delighted with the Burnley man.
He explained: "The goals were brilliant. I'm really happy for Sam Vokes. He doesnt always start but he's worked incredibly hard.
"For Ashley[Williams] to score, he could've had a hat-trick. What a leader.
"Dream. Don't be afraid to have dreams. Four years ago we were so far from this, if you work hard enough and you're not afraid to fail. We deserve this."
And goalscorer Hal Robson-Kanu - currently a free agent - believes that the 'world class' players in the squad can even fire Wales all the way.
He beamed: "That was fantastic. We did well to get back into the game and we got our just rewards.
"It's hard to describe. We've worked so hard for six, seven eight years.
"We have got world class players in our team, defensively we are solid as a rock. We stand a chance."
Skipper Ashley Williams netted the all important equaliser and could barely take in the result after the game.
He said: "I don't score many goals, we were playing good stuff. This is hard to take in.
"We showed unbelievable character to come back."
