Mirrors, TVs and a ping pong table: England staff clear out luxury base after Euro exit
Thursday, June 30, 2016 Source: Dailystar.co.ukTwo huge trucks were parked outside the team's luxury Auberge du Jeu de Paume Hotel and loaded up with belongings.
Staff spent several hours packing up the wagons following England's shock elimination from Euro 2016.
But despite the fact Roy Hodgson, his staff and all his players have now flown home, no members of the general public are still allowed inside the hotel.
Items carried out included two huge mirrors and a table tennis table.
The FA even had their own chairs brought to France along with more than half a dozen flat-screen TVs.
The back end of one of the team's lion mascots was also spotted being thrown into the back of the truck.
A photographer tried to take some photos from a nearby vantage point but was ordered not to by plain clothed policemen.
It highlighted just how strict security has been around the England camp.
But it all added up to nothing when Hodgson's men crashed out to minnows Iceland in the last 16 to force him to quit.
People feel so ashamed of the failure that even the lorry driver taking all the gear back to a unit in Staffordshire refused to have a giant England badge attached to his vehicle for the long journey home.
