Kante: France's system didn't work
Friday, June 17, 2016 Source: Marca.comFrance midfielder N'Golo Kante has acknowledged that the 4-2-3-1 system his side deployed against Albania was not successful.
Late goals from Antoine Griezmann and Dimitri Payet handed France their second win from two games in Marseille but Didier Deschamps' side struggled to break down the unfancied Albanians.
Kante did admit that the important thing is to win, but having also laboured to an opening night 2-1 win over Romania - thanks to a late Payet wonderstrike - the host country have looked far from convincing in the tournament thus far.
"The 4-2-3-1 system did not work, but that's not the most important thing. What counts is that we lacked pace," said the Leicester City player.
"It is clear that we can improve the quality of our game and we will try to do so, but I'm not frustrated.
"We know that we didn't have a good first half against Albania, and the second half was better, but there are no easy games.
Entering the tournament in good form, Kante has now become a starter for France, something few thought was possible not long ago.
"I'm focused, working hard and happy with how everything's going. My teammates trust me.
"France are already through to the second round but need to avoid defeat against Switzerland in Lille on Sunday night to ensure top spot in Group A.
