Del Bosque: I have to believe De Gea
Saturday, June 11, 2016 Source: Goal.comWho Vicente del Bosque would select as Spain's No. 1 goalkeeper was already the subject of debate before Friday's scandal surrounding David De Gea hit the headlines, but while some speculated that the 25-year-old would be ditched, the World Cup winning coach showed his support by standing by the player.
The Manchester United goalkeeper maintained his innocence in the wake of involvement in lurid sexual assault allegations and although more details will no doubt come to light, Del Bosque came out in his defence.
"He appears to have done nothing and I have to believe that," explained the veteran coach.
"We are here to support him and give himall the love that is required in this situation.
"He has given explanations and made it clear that he had nothing to do with this, and said so with great sincerity."
When asked if this would affect his relation with the young goalkeeper or if he would be expelled from the camp as had been rumoured, Del Bosque was defiant.
"We are not to judge."
