They left as underdogs, they returned to a hero's welcome.
The Portugal squad touched down in Lisbon after their victory over hosts France in the final of Euro 2016 the night before. And showed off their new trophy- the celebrations led by Cristiano Ronaldo.
And they did it, without their star player and captain who was substituted early on after picking up an injury in a challenge with France's Dimitri Payet.
Many said before the tournament that they were a one player team- reliant to goals from Cristiano Ronaldo.
Portugal substitute Eder scored the winning goal in the 109th minute after the match had ended 0-0 during normal time.
Many fans welcomed the squad as they disembarked from the aircraft with airport workers keen to take photographs.
The squad then jumped onto an open top bus.
A party atmosphere to welcome the players home. The joy on everyone's faces clear to see.
