Portugal fans celebrated at the final whistle in Paris on Sunday (10th July) after watching their country defeat France to win the 2016 UEFA European Championship.

Fans in Paris commiserate as France fall to a 1-0 extra-time defeat against Portugal in the final of Euro 2016 on Sunday (10th July).

As Portugal fans celebrated their team's victory in the final of Euro 2016 in the Paris fan zone- French fans were left in tears as the home nation failed to win their third European Championship title- their second on home soil.

They were the favourites coming into the game, but failed to deliver on the night.

French fan Nicolas Floch explained his thoughts on the tournament and the final after the match:

"I'm very disappointed. We've been supporting France's team for one month. We've been here supporting them all along and to loose like this tonight. The Portuguese didn't deserve this. The crowd was here but you know, that's sport. It's like that. It's life. Here you go. Till the next one. It won't be in France sadly but that's what it is."

When the dust settles the French fans should be proud of their team, who came so close, but couldn't claim the tournament victory in the end- postives for the future of French football.
