France and Deschamps seek different trebles

2016-07-10 05:25:00 from:SNTV

France trained at their base in Clarefontaine on Saturday (9th July) ahead of their Euro 2016 final against Portugal on Sunday (10th July).

It's been a hard fought road, but France are exactly where the entire nation hoped they would be when Euro 2016 kicked off a month ago.

The French side certainly took some time to find its rhythm but it will be playing in the final against Portugal at the Stade de France on Sunday.

France are seeking their first trophy since the 2000 European Championships when they beat Italy in extra-time.

Not only, they will also be targetting a hattrick of victories at home.

France has won the last two tournaments it has hosted, in 1986 the European Championships with the great Michel Platini leading the side.

And in 1998, their first World Cup triumph, a trophy lifted by a familiar face in a familiar location...

In fact, it was current head coach Didier Deschamps who lifted the 1998 World Cup as captain in the Stade de France, the same stadium that will host tomorrow's final against Portugal.

While France will looking to go three for three at home, Deschamps too will be aiming to complete his own personal treble having also captained the side that won Euro 2000.
