The Iceland squad arrived back to a rapturous reception from supporters in the capital of Reykjavik on Monday.
Thousands lined the streets to pay homage to the players and coaching staff, who in turn saluted fans from an open top bus.
Joint coaches Lars Lagerback and Heimir Hallgrimsson guided Iceland to qualification for their first major tournament.
They exceeded many people's expectations at Euro 2016 by emerging from Group F in second place, ahead of favourites Portugal.
In the round of 16 they caused the biggest shock of the tournament when they knocked England out with a 2-1 win.
But their adventure ended at the quarter-final stage when they were beaten 5-2 by France on Sunday in Paris.
Not bad for a country with a population of only 330,000.
The squad eventually made its way to a specially constructed stage in the city where their iconic 'Viking clap' was performed, by players and fans.
