Antonio Conte reflected on Italy's quarter-final exit after shootout defeat to Germany on Saturday (2nd July) and revelaed the struggles he faced over his decision to quit.

"The decision to leave the national team after two years was made before the tournament; I won't deny the fact that there was a time (In November) where I would have liked to continue. However based on certain facts I wasn't able to go back on that and if I am honest I didn't see anybody next to me, the written press, the media, it seemed I had to go into battle - Conte against everyone.
