Loew will respect Italy opponents
2016-07-02 07:14:00 from:SNTVGermany coach Joachim Loew and midfielder Mesut Ozil spoke on Friday (1st July) ahead of their quarter-final match against Italy at Euro 2016.
SOUNDBITE: (German) Joachim Loew, Germany coach
"This we week we have analysed Italy and we've seen their other games. They don't have just defensive qualities, but also very good solutions in the attack. This will be a different attack than the ones we have faced so far. This side has great quality, of course they know how to defend, and that's what we prepared our side for. I think we are well prepared, we're aware of what we're going to face tomorrow."
SOUNDBITE: (German) Joachim Loew, Germany coach
"Of course the winner of tomorrow's game can be the favourite to win the tournament, the sides which will meet in the semifinals, France, Germany and Italy, are the teams who want to get to the final. Both sides can get there, but it's still a long way to go, we have to focus on the next game. Then we might have a semi-final maybe against the hosts, but for them it won't be easy either. It's still a long way to go, but of course the winner of tomorrow might be a favourite for the title."
SOUNDBITE: (German) Mesut Ozil, Germany midfielder:
"Well, of course historically in the great tournaments we failed against Italy, but as a player you're professional enough to overcome that, and we want to prove tomorrow that it's possible to play different and we can win against Italy, and we saw that in the friendly (Germany won 4-1 against Italy in a friendly match in Munich last March). The most important is to focus on ourselves, we have the qualities to win against any team and that's what we want to show against Italy tomorrow."
