Iceland can beat England - Hallgrimsson
2016-06-25 20:19:00 from:SNTVIceland co-coach Heimir Hallgrimsson and striker Eidur Gudjohnsen spoke on Saturday (25th June) to look ahead to their Euro 2016 round of 16 clash with England.
SOUNDBITE: (English) Eidur Gudjohnsen, Iceland striker:
"To be facing England for us, I think it is fair to say, it is a little bit special, because English football has had a huge influence on Icelandic football. And from whenever or from when we grew up, and for generations, everyone in Iceland has supported a team in English football. So, we feel a big connection to England in terms of football. But I think the excitement lies more in the fact that we are in the last 16 rather than who we are facing."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Heimir Hallgrimsson, Iceland co-coach:
"We beat Holland twice, Turkey, Czech Republic and Austria in the last game. And like I said, we have been improving and we have shown that we can beat anyone on a good day. But we are also realistic. We know that even though we have our best game of our lives we can still lose against nations like England. So, we are realistic, but of course we think that we can beat them."
