O'Neill calls for emotion in Welsh 'cup tie'
2016-06-25 05:08:00 from:SNTVNorthern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill said on Friday (24th June) he wants his players to soak up the emotion of the occasion when they face Wales in a "good old fashioned British" game at Euro 2016.
"The main thing is that we make it a cup tie as well, we make the game a cup tie. We have an English referee, everything in the game that's good about the British game, I think that's want we want in the game as well. I saw a table today regarding simulation and we're bottom of that table so I think that's a good thing, it shows we want to play the game in the right way. We want to make sure that we do our best within the rules and and we expect a good old fashioned British game tomorrow night."
"I want my team to play with loads of emotion and I want them to fully understand the significance of the game. I think when you look at our performances, particularly in the latter two games you couldn't question the heart of the team from the first minute to the last minute and I don't believe you can play without emotion to be honest so I don't expect my team to play without emotion. It will be a be big factor in the game tomorrow night."
