Euro 2016 : Focus on Northern Ireland

2016-06-19 04:26:00 from:SNTV

Northern Ireland talked on Saturday (18th June) about facing Germany in their last group game

SOUNDBITE: (English) Josh Magennis, Northern Ireland midfielder:

(What kind of boost is that win against Ukraine?)

"I think we were in the game a lot for the Poland game, but in terms of stamping our authority, we were a bit anonymous. To come into the Ukraine game against a very good side - I think that's only the third game they've lost in the last 12 or 15 or something. To play the way we did in qualification and stamp our authority for major parts of the game is fantastic."

(What are your memories of Germany in the recent major finals?)

SOUNDBITE: (English) Stuart Dallas, Northern Ireland midfielder

"They (Germany) are not world champions for no reason. We're under no illusions what it's going to be like, you know, we're not going to go and dominate the ball. We've shown that we can defend from the front, we can certainly create havoc and create chances going forward. As I say we were back on the training field today we re-grouped. I've said before the manager leaves no stone unturned, we'll prepare the way we do for any game and we'll go and look about a positive result."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Josh Magennis, Northern Ireland midfielder:

(Q: Who do you fear in the German side?)

"Me? I don't fear any man. I've always been brought up the only person I fear is God. I'm quite religious so I don't fear any man. I feel that if we have the right preparation and we go into it the right way, any one can be vulnerable. We know Germany are a very good team. They have a ridiculous amount of quality, but in terms of fear this isn't an industry you can have fear in. If you let fear take a hold of you you are like a rabbit in the headlights. As I say we're proud to wear the Northern Ireland badge. We come here with great confidence, we finished top of our group, so there's no team or no person we fear in this competition."
