UEFA have opened a disciplinary case against Croatia's football federation for racism and fan disorder at Euro 2016. Play was stopped for several minutes late in Croatia's 2-2 draw with the Czech Republic in Saint-Etienne on Friday following crowd trouble.

Uefa formally opened a disciplinary case against the Croatian soccer federation on Saturday for racism and fan disorder at their European Championship match.

Play was stopped for several minutes during the second half in Croatia's 2-2 draw with the Czech Republic in Saint-Etienne on Friday when firecrackers and lit flares were thrown on the field from one end of the stadium where fans were sitting.

Croatia fans then fought amongst themselves as players appealed for calm.

Uefas anti-discrimination monitors said on Saturday they also reported hearing fans sing far-right songs and displaying offensive banners at the stadium.

Europe's governing body said the charges against Croatia related to racist behaviour, crowd disturbances, throwing of objects on the field, and setting off fireworks.

Uefa disciplinary panel will convene the case hearing on Monday.

Meanwhile, Croatia face a worrying 24 hours with Luka Modric amongst seven players absent from the team's training session in Deauville.

Modric was substituted after 62 minutes against the Czech Republic as a precaution over a groin problem.
