Switzerland's Gelson Fernandes is hoping they can avenge their defeat at the 2014 World Cup to France, when they face the hosts on Sunday with top spot of Euro 2016 Group A at stake.

Boosted by a second half equalizer in their midweek Group A draw with Romania, Switzerland head into their final group game against leaders France.

The Swiss have added motivation to upset hosts France on Sunday. A win for them would ensure first place in Group A and help erase the memory of a stinging 5-2 loss to 'Les Bleus' at the World Cup two years ago.

Midfielder Gelson Fernandes, who plays for Ligue 1's Stade Rennes, is often reminded about the 2014 match at his club.

SOUNDBITE (German) Gelson Fernandes, Switzerland midfielder:

(On whether his French team-mates at Rennes talk to him about Switzerland's 5-2 loss against France at the 2014 World Cup)

"Of course my French team-mates talk to me a lot about that match. For us it was hard to accept such a big defeat. The French players created much more than us, and were faster. Now we have to see the progress we have made in two years. I think that many players now have more experience than in 2014."

Despite below-par performances from the French in their victories against Romania and albania, where late goals compensated for sloppy first halves, the Swiss certainly arenot reading anything into the hosts less than impressive displays.

SOUNDBITE (French) Gelson Fernandes, Switzerland midfielder:

(On the upcoming Group A match against France)

"We will play to win, because it's an important match for us. We have the chance to take the lead of the group, but also there is the chance to finish third. We must play to win, and send a strong message to all the people who are watching us. We're not qualified yet."

With head coach Didier Deschamps side showing defensive weakness at set pieces, Switzerland will look to capitalise, having scored both their goals from corners.
