Even soft drinks banned in Lille - British police
2016-06-16 06:24:00 from:SNTVAuthorities in Lille announce alcohol restrictions in the build-up to Russia's Euro 2016 Group B tie against Slovakia (14th June).
SOUNDBITE: (English) Mark Roberts, head of Britain's Euro 2016 policing operation:
"From the meeting that we had this morning, there will be restrictions on the sale of alcohol, so from 6 o'clock this evening through until 6 o'clock on Friday morning, you won't be able to buy off sales in Lille, the area. You won't be able to drink in a public place and even soft drinks in glass or metal cans won't be allowed in a public place for people to drink from them. So they are acutely aware that alcohol can be a factor, so they are clamping down on that."
"In bars, you'll still be able to get a drink in bars, they will close at midnight, there will be restrictions on taking drinks outside into public areas. That won't be allowed, but in bars and restaurants you can still get a drink."
