Hungary making their first appearance at the Euros since 1972, while Austria their first other than when they hosted in 2008.
Meaning both will be playing with plenty of pride come Tuesday evening.
Austria come into the game as favourites having had a hugely impressive qualification.
And Hungary have injury concerns over two key players, yet head coach Bernd Storck expects Zoltan Gera to be fit.
SOUNDBITE: (German) Bernd Storck, Head Coach:
" Both players I think are out. Tamas Kadar has a knee injury and could miss the whole of the tournament. The other one (Zoltan Gera) i am feeling quite positive about and we will have a test on his situation and see if he plays tomorrow.'
While Austria have in their ranks a number of high profile players, not least Christian Fuchs a Premier League winner with Leicester City this season.
"You know, when you ask me that question..after this year with Leicester i mean for me it is a tough question because now i start to dream, you know and believe that things can happen but you also have to stay humble. It is not an easy way you know. There are a a lot of games to play, there are good teams - especially with Portugal you know, it is also going to be a tough game. So what we do is take every game as the next one. Only we focus on this one because basically its what we can effect. So lets see if dreams can come true."
The two sides meet in Bordeaux on Tuesday afternoon.
