A Northern Ireland fan has died in the French city of Nice, where the  country's national football team was playing at the UEFA European  Championship.

A Northern Ireland fan has died in the French city of Nice,  where the country's national team was playing at the European  Championship.

The Northern Irish football association confirmed the death in a  statement on Monday (13th June), but did not name give any details of  the man who is believed to be in his 20's.

Initial reports suggest the death was not related to violence,  following the hooliganism that has so far blighted the tournament.

Northern Ireland lost their opening match of the tournament 1-0  against Poland in Nice on Sunday (12th June).
