Euro 2016:Focus on Ukraine
2016-06-12 15:55:00 from:SNTVUkraine captain Anatoliy Tymoshchuka believes they have the confidence to be successful in France. They face Germany in Lille in their opening Group C meeting at Euro 2016 on Sunday.
SOUNDBITE: (Ukrainian) Anatoliy Tymoshchuk, Ukraine captain:
"I think that now Ukraine is more experienced, stronger. We experienced the European Championship in 2012. It gave us more confidence, and this confidence grew every match. That's why I think our team is stronger in comparison to the one in 2012. It's difficult to compare our styles of play now and back then, but if it comes to the confidence, I think we're stronger now."
SOUNDBITE: (Ukrainian) Andriy Yarmolenko, Ukrainian midfielder (on the pressure on himself and fellow playmaker Yehven Konoplyanka):
"First of all I want to say that it isn't only about me and Konoplyanka. Every player in our squad who goes out on to the pitch, is in the starting 11 or is a substitute gives 100 per cent and fights. That's why I wouldn't speak only about Yarmolenko and Konoplyanka. It's not right."
SOUNDBITE: (Ukrainian) Mykhaylo Fomenko, Ukraina coach:
"Well, the situation in Ukraine is not a good one. Of course it has a certain influence on us, and football is no exception. The situation does have an influence on it. But I hope that our players understand this matter and I hope that they want to bring some joy to the people in our home country, to our fans, to our supporters."
