Croatia striker Mario Mandzukic looked ahead to their team's opening Euro 2016 match against Turkey on Sunday (June 12th).

Croatia trained at their Deauville base on Wednesday ahead of their opening Euro 2016 match against Turkey at the Parc des Princes in Paris on Sunday.

Their opponents have proved hard to beat in recent times, having lost just once in 16 matches since November 2014.

That defeat came against England in Manchester last month.

Croatia are expecting a tough match, but believe they have the quality to win.

Forward Mario Mandzukic said the side need to perform, if they're to overcome to challenge of Turkey in their opening game:

SOUNDBITE (Croatian) Mario Mandzukic, Croatia forward:

"Of course, it is always nice to open the Tournament with a win because it pumps your self-confidence. We respect Turkey, they are very good, they have an excellent coach, good players and we know that they are fanatical on the pitch. So, as I said, we know our qualities. We know how strong our players are on paper but it doesn’t mean anything if we don’t put it on the pitch. We have to act like one. If we do that, it will be easier for us and I am convinced that we can win."

Following Sunday's opening match in Group D, Croatia play the Czech Republic on 17th June and Spain on the 21st.
