The side left their base at the Vale of Glamorgan and had a send off from pupils of Ysgol Treganna school in Cardiff as they boarded their flight.
Their appearance in France is their first at a major tournament since the 1958 World Cup in Sweden.
Chris Coleman's side are drawn in Group B for the tournament and will get their campaign underway on Saturday (11th June) when they face Slovakia.
England and Russia are their other two group opponents.
Unsurprisingly Gareth Bale was the centre of attention posing for photos with the school children.
Aaron Ramsey looked as if he was hoping for centre stage sporting his new, summer ready hairstyle.
Wales will be captained by Swansea's Ashley Williams, with Joe Ledley making the squad despite breaking his leg less than a month ago.
The squad were departing Cardiff for Sweden where they will play the Scandinavian nation in a friendly on Sunday before going onto France and their base in Brittany for the tournament.
