France arrive in Austria for final Euro 2016 preparations

The France squad arrived in Austria on Tuesday (31st May) for a training camp ahead of Euro 2016 with coach Didier Deschamps saying the facility in Neustift im Stubaital was "ideal" preparation for the tournament on home soil.

Didier Deschamps arrived in Austria with his selected final 23 to win Euro 2016.

Although France have an array of talent in their squad, defensively they have been hit with recent injuries.

Raphael Varane was a certainty to start the tournament, yet the Real Madrid defender suffered an injury last week while on duty with his club.

Jeremy Mathieu was the likely starting replacement for Varane, yet he too has had to pull out of the tournament.

And late on Tuesday, news that Lassana Diarra suffered a tournament ending injury means Morgan Schneiderlin comes off the standby bench into the 23.

Patrice Evra was always a dead certainty for the squad as was Bacary Sagna.

This man won't be afraid of taking on duties further up the field. Paul Pogba joined by Newcastle's Mousa Sissoko in the squad.

Yet Pogba has been subjected to media scrutiny in recent weeks in regard to his place in the French side - Deschamps though has full confidence in the Juventus players.

SOUNDBITE: (French) Didier Deschamps, France coach

(on any improvements Paul Pogba may need to make for the European Championship):

"It is not about taking responsibilities, there are different systems and he is more accustomed to the players next to him in his club. I am not worried about Paul. He only has to make some small adjustments for himself and also the team."

France play Scotland on June 4, before their tournament opener against Romania on Friday 10th.
