Eddie Jones can inspire English football - Hodgson
2016-05-22 11:11:00 from:SNTVEngland rugby union coach Eddie Jones visited his football counterpart Roy Hodgson at St George's Park on Friday (20th May). Hodgson said he hoped Jones could bring some of his 'magic dust' to the football set up.
SOUNDBITE (English) Roy Hodgson, England manager
(asked about the visit of Eddie Jones):
"Basically I was working with him as more of a friend. He's someone who I've met a couple of times previously and when we met we discussed the possibility of coming to see each other at some time, him at St George's, me at Pennyhill Park. But of course I'm rather hoping that a little bit of his magic dust that he had in winning a Grand Slam will rub off. That wouldn't be harmful in any way. It's always good as a coach to take some ideas or thoughts or to pick the brains of other successful managers in other disciplines because the job of managing and coaching elite players has a lot of similarities."
SOUNDBITE (English) Roy Hodgson, England manager
(asked about England playing games away from Wembley):
"I think it's going to be an interesting occasion playing in Manchester and Sunderland before the final game at Wembley and I think that we will have shown at least our intentions and our goodwill of bringing England football to the whole of England and not sort of in some way cocooning it at Wembley where maybe only people in the London area get a true chance to see us play live."
