Germany hurting after defeat to England - Khedira
2016-03-29 10:32:00 from:SNTVGermany midfielder Sami Khedira said on Monday (28th March) that the teams "eyes were opened" by their 3-2 defeat to England in Berlin last Saturday (26th March), as they get ready to face Italy in Munich on Tuesday (29th March).
"Maybe it was very good that exactly in a match like that against a top opponent our eyes were opened. Forty-five to sixty minutes we have played properly with some good play, but then we have dropped our level. We didn't defend anymore. Maybe we have given two or three percent less and that's enough against an opponent like England. Of course in a tournament we know that we have to be focused, but still this should not happen to us. Because it´s still a match of national teams and we absolutely had wanted to win that match."
"We really go into a tournament to win it. It has been like that throughout the years I have been in the team. But definitely the task won´t become easier because everybody wants to beat the World Champions. We have realised that in the qualifying and also friendly matches. But we ourselves definitely want to win that tournament. Also if we have strong opponents who we don´t underestimate. But we also know that we have a really good team. We drive to France to eventually leave the field as winner."
