Blind backs \'special\' teammate Rooney
2016-03-29 10:29:00 from:SNTVNetherlands, who failed to qualify for Euro 2016, will take on England at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday (28 March) - Danny and Daley Blind addressed the media on Monday (28 March) ahead of the game.
SOUNDBITE (English) Daley Blind, Netherlands captain (asked if Wayne Rooney should start in any team):
"I think if a player like Wayne Rooney is fit then he is a very special player and he can make every team better. I think the question is clear but what I will say is when he is fit, I think you're definitely going to need him and he brings something special to the team because he's exceptional, he's got exceptional qualities and he can make any team better. I think it's no question."
SOUNDBITE (English) Danny Blind, Netherlands coach (on England's win over Germany):
"For sure it's special when you're 2-0 down against Germany and you win 2-3, in Germany. That's very special. I think the way they did it was ok. There was a good spirit in the team but also tactically they gave good pressure with the three in front, they did a great job to disturb the build up from Germany. And they were successful because Germany normally, they play football from behind with (Manuel) Neuer and now they had great problems so all credit to England's team."
