Vardy \'extremely dangerous\' - Loew
2016-03-26 11:38:00 from:SNTVGermany coach Joachim Loew spoke about the team's next opponents, England, at a news conference on Friday (25 March) and also commented on security fears surrounding Euro 2016.
SOUNDBITE (German) Joachim Loew, Germany coach: (On England strikers.)
"If (Jamie) Vardy plays at all, it could also be (Harry) Kane (who plays). I think both players have never played together or probably only for a very short time so far. So one of those two players could play, probably both. So, it is a challenge for our defence to get prepared for two different types of players. When Kane is playing the game will be a bit different compared to a game with Vardy. But I have talked with our defenders this morning again and they have seen some situations of Vardy on the pitch. He is always standing deep, always behind the defence... the place where it hurts the most for the opponent team. That is where he is always going. And that is why he is playing so well in the domestic league and scores many goals. So, he is a striker who is really, extremely dangerous."
SOUNDBITE (German) Joachim Loew, Germany coach: (On security.)
"I think none of us wants a game in a stadium without fans (an empty stadium). This would really be devastating if this happened. I want to say this very clearly here. So, that is why I expect that also with regard to the game tomorrow, everything will be done. And I do of course hope for all of us, for all the fans that will come to this game, that everything will go as we wish. Seen from a sports perspective, I have already said that England is a very good test as an opponent even with a little bit of a competitive character. Germany versus England is always a special game."
