2016-03-03 14:17:00 from:SNTVacques Lambert, President of Euro 2016 organising committee, said security at the tournament would be a joint enterprise between the French governement and UEFA.
SOUNDBITE: (French) Jacques Lambert, President of Euro 2016 organising committee (asked if security could be a big at the Euros):
Security is an important issue for organisers especially in the context of France over the last few months. It\'s going to be an issue for the government, for the State, for security forces, but it is also a problem for organisers, at the stadiums, at the teams hotels, at the training centres and also at the fan zones where both supporters and local residents will gather, eager to come and watch the game for free in their town on a big screen. Security is a global problem. You can\'t break it up into several side issues. Security for an event like this one is in fact a co-production between the State and the organiser.
SOUNDBITE: (French) Jacques Lambert, President of Euro 2016 organising committee (asked if it is a shame banned UEFA President Michel Platini was not present):
Yes, for us it is a very big shame that the President of UEFA is being prevented from exercising his functions. I very much wish that, as acting President, he will be with us on June 10th for the opening match and stay with us all through the competition.
