Deschamps: Euro win not going to be easy

2015-12-14 14:07:00 from:SNTV

Reaction from France coach Didier Deschamps following the Euro 2016 draw in Paris on Saturday (12th December).

SOUNDBITE: (French), Didier Deschamps (on fans' expectations)

"Of course there is a lot of expectation, France is the host country - it always happens in each competition, there is strong popular support and ideally the public will want the organising country to win the competition. But it doesn't always happen - we are confident, the players are confident. We have to be ambitious but players have to keep in mind that it is not going to be easy and many of our opponents will want to win this competition."

SOUNDBITE: (French), Didier Deschamps (on Platini)

"Obviously Michel (Platini) really wanted to be here today. He did a lot for France to host this tournament in terms of organisation. Today unfortunately the court decision means he could not attend. I hope things will improve for him and he will go back to his former job."

SOUNDBITE: (French), Didier Deschamps (on Benzema):

"I can't answer that today. You are aware of my president's decision. I understand that decision and I accept it. At the end of March I have to come up with a list of players and I will put one together another one in May. Now this is mid December and if I am correct there is more than three months. Many things could happen in three months. Today he can't play in France but that could change - who knows?"
