O\'Neill: "The onus is on us now"

2015-11-15 11:12:00 from:SNTV

Reaction after Bosnia and Herzegovina fought back to draw 1-1 with the Republic of Ireland in a foggy first leg of their Euro 2016 play-off tie

SOUNDBITE: (English) Martin O'Neill, Republic of Ireland manager:

"Yes, we've got an away goal, which helps, but that can be wiped out in any given minute. I thought it was a tough game for us, really tough, but we fought very, very strongly in the game, and..... we're still in the tie. So, very much everything to play for.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Martin O'Neill, Republic of Ireland manager:

"I think the onus is on us now. We will have to try and win, because I feel that Bosnia are capable of scoring a goal, and therefore I think that we, our mindset should be to try and win the game. I don't think that we can sit and.... we were away tonight against a very good Bosnia side and obviously against the crowd and.... but we will attempt to attack more during the course of the second game. That would be our objective, if we can."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Martin O'Neill, Republic of Ireland manager (on the playing conditions in the second half):

"Yes I, obviously was concerned. I didn't.... the fog came down, seemingly, and looked as if it was deepening in the second half for a period of time. What I didn't know until afterwards there was that if the game had been called off, that we'd only come back for the rest of the game tomorrow. I perhaps, maybe I thought the rules before hand used to be that you would come back for all of the game. So from that viewpoint, since we'd played the first half and the game was still goalless, and if I'd known that then it wouldn't have been too bad to come back. But the fog didn't get any worse."
