SOUNDBITE: Roy Hodgson, England manager (on Danny Welbeck's recent goals for England)
"I've always believed in Danny Welbeck. Danny Welbeck was in in 2012 with me and for many people that was a surprise selection. And he's never been out. I don't think I've picked one squad when Danny Welbeck has not been in there even at times when he wasn't getting a regular game so I'm just pleased that everyone now seems to be recognising his talent and like all players, to be recognised as a good player you've got to do the business on the field. He's doing that for the Arsenal and he's doing it for us so we're happy for him."
SOUNDBITE: Roy Hodgson, England manager (on Wayne Rooney's 100th England cap)
"I thought it was very fitting that tonight he was able to get his reward on the night when it was all about him. He picks up the cap but he also scores the all important first goal, he also leads England to victory in his 100th game. So I'm sure he's delighted, we're delighted for him. He is an important person, he's taken the captaincy extremely seriously and puts all his energy, passion and enthusiasm into that captaincy. And I'm delighted that tonight we can congratulate him and hopefully they'll be some nice things said about him tomorrow."
