SOUNDBITE: (English) Roy Hodgson, England manager: (On England's 2-0 win)

"I'm very, very pleased. This was always going to be a difficult game because Switzerland don't lose at home. I think the last time funnily enough was when England beat them so we've got a little double there. We had to work hard for it because we missed our chances early on. We created chances but didn't put them away. When Danny (Welbeck) eventually scored we knew it was going to open up on the counter attack. And when we can counter attack against teams, the pace, the energy, the youth of the team is shown to good effect."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Roy Hodgson, England manager (On Danny Welbeck wanting to play up front):

"Yeah, I understand that. I speak to him often and often I've heard him say when I've asked what does he think is his best position, he answered centre forward but he's understood fully that the position wasn't available to him in an England shirt in the past because I've had other people that have got into the team before him. So he's understood the need to do a job elsewhere. He even did it today because we changed our formation as you probably saw and he got pushed wide with Raheem (Sterling) on the other side and he did that job equally as well I thought. So he's never complained and he's always made it clear that he'll play whenever I want him to play, but I'm in no doubt that if it was up to him, he'd choose centre forward."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Roy Hodgson, England manager (On recent criticism of Wayne Rooney and his performance against Switzerland):

"I think all these players have got to learn, I mean Wayne learnt along time ago, if you're going to have a big career as an England player and you're going to take that responsibility, it comes with criticism, it comes with enormous scrutiny. I've just pleased that, with some of the criticism of late, at a time when he's been very anxious to show how good he is and how much he wants to do this job, I was delighted he could marry the two things together."
