Coleman: We thought it would never happen, but here we are
Saturday, June 11, 2016 Source: Marca.comWhile even he didn't believe it would ever happen, Wales coach Chris Coleman says the team are keen to do their country proud at Euro 2016 after qualifying for their first major tournament since 1958.
Having been drawn in a group alongside British rivals England, as well as Russia and Slovakia, the Welsh start their campaign against the latter on Saturday.
Few expect much from them, but with Real Madrid star Gareth Bale fit and firing, they will hope to spring a surprise in France, with Coleman in patriotic mood ahead of the big kick off.
"We thought it would never happen, but here we are, this is something we have dreamt of for a very long time," he said.
"We have 30,000 fans coming over and we will enter the tournament as we did the qualifying - by giving everything for the shirt and seeing what happens."
The former Fulham boss has taken Wales to their first ever European Championship and will be looking to make a big impact in the tournament. The Dragons currently sit 26th in the FIFA World Rankings after coming second in their qualifying group.
