Portugal 'worthy' of final place - Joao

Portugal midfielder Joao Mario spoke of the team's togetherness and self-belief on Friday (8th July) as they prepared to face France in the final of Euro 2016.

Portugal were training hard on Friday (8th July) ahead of the final of Euro 2016 on Sunday (8th July).

Fernando Santos now knows his side will face France in Paris on Saturday, following the hosts 2-0 win over Germany.

Portugal have faced some criticism for their style of play throughout the tournament. Despite this midfielder Joao Mario says his team are 'worthy' of a place in the final.

"We always believe in ourselves, the coach has also always had this confidence and spirit. There will always be criticism, in Portugal as well, but we believe in ourselves and we have proved that we are worthy of this final."

Defender Pepe faces a race to be fit for final, and trained separately from his teammates on Friday.

Crucially star man Cristiano Ronaldo looked fit, and ready to lead his side to glory.
