Germany players trained on Tuesday (5th July) 48 hours ahead of their Euro 2016 semi-final against hosts France.

Germany's players continued their preparations for their Euro 2016 semi-final against France with a training session at their team base in Evian-les-Bains.

The world champions take on the hosts in Marseille on Thursday, looking to reach their second final in three European Championships.

The Germans have won the title three times (twice as West Germany) but have lost three finals as well, the latest being in 2008 when they were defeated by Spain.

The semi-final against France is a repeat of their World Cup quarter-final in Brazil two years ago when the Germans won courtesy of a single Mats Hummels goal.

The defender, now with Bayern Munich after a summer transfer from Borussia Dortmund, is suspended for Thursday's semi-final after picking up two yellow cards during the tournament.

While not hitting the heights of their performances in the World Cup yet, Germany have nevertheless proved strong defensively and have yet to concede a goal from open play in the tournament.

The meeting with France will be the third semi-final in major tournaments in recent times after two World Cup semi-finals in 1982 and 1986, both of which were won by the then West Germany.
