Low to 'pour coffee' on terrible Italian record

2016-06-29 01:08:00 from:SNTV

Germany coach Joachim Loew on Tuesday (27th June) spoke of Germany's terrible record against the Italians at major tournaments, yet insisted it wasn't on his players' minds. Germany play Italy on Saturday in the quarter-finals of Euro 2016.

"I am very much looking forward to the game against Italy now in the quarter-finals, because they played a really convincing game yesterday. It is not the Italians one is used to knowing. They are not only focused on the defence, but they do of course also play very, very well forward. So, I think it will become a highly interesting and sensitive game at the weekend accordingly. We are all... and I am personally also very much looking forward to this (game)."

"The Italians are always much more happy about a 0:0 draw than we Germans. We would probably be upset with a 0:0, we would rather prefer a 3:3. But the Italians are happy about a 0:0. I think there is of course on occasion again and again talk about the past....we have never managed to win against the Italians in a tournament. I think we have no Italy trauma, because it is a different team now and there are always different preconditions. So, I don't rate things from the past too much. This is cold coffee. We rather prefer a fresh espresso and we must see that it will taste very good on Saturday."
