Republic of Ireland fans in Dublin watched their side knocked out of Euro 2016 after a 2-1 defeat by hosts France on Sunday (26th June).

Republic of Ireland fans gathered in Dublin on Sunday to watch their team take on hosts France for a place in the quarter-finals of Euro 2016.

There was cause for early celebration when they saw what was happening in Lyon, as Shane Long was fouled in the box, and Robbie Brady converted the resulting penalty in the third minute.

The Irish stayed in front until the 58th minute when Antoine Griezmann headed in the equaliser.

And they had barely had time to come to terms with that goal when Griezmann scored again just three minutes later to make it 2-1 to France.

The hosts and pre-tournament favourites will play either England or Iceland in the quarter-finals.
