O'Neill and Keogh look ahead to France

2016-06-26 17:22:00 from:SNTV

Republic of Ireland manager Martin O'Neill and defender Richard Keogh spoke on Saturday on the eve of their Round of 16 clash with hosts France in Lyon.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Martin O'Neill, Republic of Ireland manager:
(on whether they will approach this match differently to the defensive way they played versus Sweden and Italy):
"No. I think the approach is within ourselves, that's the most important thing. You know you're going to come up against top quality players, whether they play in midfield or in forward positions or if they're the best defenders going. So, I don't see it like that. We meet this quality opposition on a regular basis at international level, so I think the players are ready for it. I think that you might be doing a disservice to the Italians who played a pretty high level to say they don't have the same quality as the French. The French are very good players. They play with big teams and they obviously have to be watched very very carefully. But, We'll approach it like that but, when we get the ball, we'll try and use it as well as we did the other evening."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Richard Keogh, Republic of Ireland defender (on if West Ham's Darren Randolph can share any secrets on club team-mate Dimitri Payet):
"Like the manager said, we go over the video analysis of their strengths and weaknesses and for sure he's having a great tournament. He's proven that with West Ham this year and sure we'll tap into Darren's knowledge of him. He's obviously worked with him very closely. I don't think we've got any special plans for that. We're a team and that's one of our strengths. Like we say, we're going to working hard for each other to get a positive result."
