Croatia determined to end Portugal 'hoodoo' - Cacic

2016-06-25 06:52:00 from:SNTV

Croatia prepared on Friday (24th June) to take on Portugal, and their talisman Cristiano Ronaldo, in the round of 16 at Euro 2016.

SOUNDBITE: (Croatian) Ante Cacic, Croatia coach:

(on having lost to Portugal in all three of their previous competitive meetings):

"They didn't win (in the group stage), it's true. But they will probably change their game tomorrow. I'm sure that they will respect this Croatian team and they will probably try everything to win the game of course. But yes, we have a really bad record against Portugal. There was an official match against Portugal in 1996. We lost 3-0, but all these historic results, they are there, we need to change them. So every match is important and I think my team is ready to do it tomorrow."

SOUNDBITE: (Croatian) Ante Cacic, Croatia coach:

(on being in what is perceived to be the easier half of the draw)

"You cannot say there are easy opponents in this kind of tournament, especially after the group stages. So there are many, many tight matches (in the group stage), there were some surprises as well as we saw. It was not like most people were expecting. But the draw, it's like this, I have no influence and just don't think about this. I'm focused on tomorrow's match and I'm sure we will try to play at the same level as the first three matches or even better and that's what we have to do."
