Croatia spoke on Wednesday (June 22nd) after topping group D, thanks to an incredible 2-1 victory against Spain at Euro 2016.

Croatia pulled off an incredible 2-1 victory over European Champions Spain that saw them top Group D.

The win also put an end to Spain's 12-year unbeaten run at the Euros.

It was a positive ending to a difficult week for Croatia who gave up a 2-0 lead to the Czech Republic during their second group match.

That game was also disrupted by crowd trouble amongst Croatian fans for which the federation was fined €100,000.

And Marko Pjaca was quick to highlight the importance of his team's win over Spain.

SOUNDBITE: (Croatian) Marko Pjaca, Croatia forward: (On celebrating with the fans after beating Spain)

"It was certainly a special feeling which is difficult to describe to someone who didn't experience it. After the incident against the Czech Republic we needed a game like this. We have great fans, a great atmosphere and hopefully it will continue."

Croatia can now look forward to a last 16 encounter with Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal in Lens on Saturday.

This, after they drew 3-3 with Hungary to finish third in Group F.
