Switzerland were put through their paces in training on Wednesday (22nd June) as they prepare to face Poland in the Round of 16 at the European Championship on Saturday (25th June).

Switzerland are preparing for their first ever appearance in the knockout stages of a European Championship.

Under the guidance of coach Vladimir Petkovic, the team resumeed training in Montpellier as they prepare to face Poland in Saint-Etienne on Saturday.

Switzerland achieved qualification on the back of a hard-fought goalless draw with hosts France.

But they know they will need to continue improving if they are to progress in the competition, notably up front, where a lack of goals has been a concern.

Haris Seferovic in particular has struggled, missing a number of relatively simple chances.

SOUNDBITE (German): Haris Seferovic, Switzerland forward (On not having scored yet at Euro 2016)

"I work hard in training every day in order to improve and to score goals. Having said that, I must accept the criticism that I am currently receiving as it's part of my job, it's a part of every footballer's life."

Seferovic and Switzerland will be hoping to have kept the best showing for their last 16 match-up.

History suggests they will need it, the Swiss have won just once in their 10 previous meetings with Poland.
