2016-06-22 08:02:00 from:SNTV

Switzerland players spoke on Tuesday as they looked forward to playing their first knockout match at a European Championship.

Vladimir Petkovic's Switzerland are just days away from the team's first appearance in the knockout stages of a European Championship.

A 0-0 draw with hosts France on Sunday saw the Swiss secure their spot in the last 16.

With Albania beating Romania 1-0 in Sunday's other Group A game, Switzerland finished second behind France with five points after a 1-0 victory over Albania and a 1-1 draw with Romania.

The Swiss will now face Poland as they finished in 2nd place in Group C, behind Germany.

Steve von Bergen believes his side has a good chance to progress past them.

SOUNDBITE: (French) Steve von Bergen, Switzerland defender: (on Poland as possible opponent for Switzerland in the Round of 16):

"Poland is a team with stand-out players, so it will be a tough opponent, but I think that if Switzerland proves once again that it can progress match after match, as it's been the case since the start of this tournament, if we keep improving then we have a good chance to reach the quarter-finals."

Switzerland will play Poland, in Saint-Etienne on Saturday.
