Conte expects team to give everthing against Ireland

Italy have already booked their place in the last 16 and are guaranteed top spot in Group E as they prepare to face the Republic of Ireland in Lille.

However, the game is a must-win for their opposition if they are to stand a chance of progressing to the last 16.

Conte is expected to make wholesale changes ahead of the final group game, but true to his style, he does not expect to see a dip in performance from an Italian side that has surprised many.

SOUNDBITE: (Italian) Antonio Conte, Italy coach (on rotating his first team for the game against the Republic of Ireland)

"I'm very relaxed, I'm very calm because I know these players will give me everything. I'm going to try to pick a balanced side, otherwise we'll be in danger of having problems. This match means a lot to us. If you think it's a useless fixture, a dead rubber but that's not the case for me. I want to see some answers from those that take to the pitch tomorrow and I will base my squad selection on this."

The two teams will have to contend with a less than ideal playing surface, something Conte was quick to highlight, claiming it fails to meet the standards of an international competition.

In fact the pitch at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy will be relaid following Wednesday's fixture.
