England fans were arriving early in Saint-Etienne on Monday (20th June) ahead of their final Euro 2016 Group B game against Slovakia.

Bars stocking up on beer, police in position, and England fans arriving in numbers at lunchtime in Saint-Etienne.

In the town's central square, some English supporters were having their first drink of the day, or dozing on the lawn.

There has been a high security presence around England fans since they arrived in France earlier this month and violence marred the team's first match in the southern Mediterranean port city of Marseille against Russia.

But Mark Holton, an England fan from Reading explained that most fans come just to watch the game and not cause trouble:

SOUNDBITE: (English) Mark Holton, England fan from Reading:

"Ninety-nine percent of England fans don't want trouble, it's all fun, we want to party, we don't want any trouble. But there's a few idiots that want to cause trouble obviously. What happens is other countries come in, the Russians this time come and it just seems they start the fighting again. One little thing, but also the police, the police should be right here amongst us, not all standing over that side. And shake hands and say, 'Guys calm down'. If there is a problem, come and talk to people, just calm it down."

England heads into the Group B finale in first place with four points. Wales and Slovakia are a point behind, while Russia are bottom with a single point although they can still reach the knockout stages of Euro 2016.
