Albania secured their first ever major tournament victory - and kept their hopes of reaching the last 16 of Euro 2016 alive - with a 1-0 win over Romania on Sunday (19th June).

"Well I am sure that we have given huge joy to the Albanian fans, not just those who live in Albania but those who live all around the world. The supporters have great passion. Wherever we go, we find fans and they all want to show support and gratitude for what we did in such a difficult situation. During the qualification campaign it was a difficult one where we were probably the fourth or the fifth team (expect to go through) Today we managed to do what we couldn't in the first two games. We probably got something in the end because you need to get results. If you score goals, you get results. Today we were able to contain a squad that has strengths, qualities and then in the entire group stage we only conceded three goals and tonight we won with heart. We didn't get many chances. We played with our heads, our mental strength and this is what I would like our team to continue to do in every game."
