Euro 2016: Iceland dressing room silent after draw

2016-06-20 00:01:00 from:SNTV

Hungary coach Bernd Storck and his Iceland counterpart Heimir Hallgrimsson reflected on Saturday's (18th June) Euro 2016 Group F encounter in Marseille, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Script: SOUNDBITE (German): Bernd Storck, Hungary coach:

"I don't want to talk about the penalty (Gylfi Sigurdsson scored first-half penalty for Iceland), the referee decided and I haven't seen the replay. I am not interested in that. As far as the group is concerned, we have to wait for the result of the game between Portugal and Austria (22nd June) and then we can decide what we have to do. We are very happy about our game today, we are very happy about the late goal. It was a stroke of luck but I think it was well deserved. We dominated the game and I think my side has always tried to play football to create chances. Only in the last third were we not accurate, we couldn't create chances. Iceland defended very cleverly, and it wasn't easy for us to create opportunities."

SOUNDBITE (Icelandic): Heimir Hallgrimsson, Iceland joint coach (on mood in dressing room after the game):

"The atmosphere was a bit down in the dressing room. Any team that concedes a goal that late, it's a bit special. We were happy with a point against Portugal, but we were really disappointed with a draw against Hungary. The dressing room was silent after the game."

SOUNDBITE (English): Heimir Hallgrimsson, Iceland coach:

"First of all, I would like to give credit to the Hungarians and their coach, like we did before the game. It's a really good team and those who underestimate them will suffer. They just worked us hard, we had to put a lot of effort into the game, the whole game, to defend against them. What we did badly was keeping the ball, we didn't use the ball as well as we should have when we had it, but probably it was a little bit down to tiredness in the end."
