Croatia chiefs condemn crowd trouble in Czech draw

2016-06-19 04:44:00 from:SNTV

SOUNDBITE (Croatian) Ante Cacic, Croatia head coach (on the crowd behaviour during the match with the Czech Republic):

"I spoke yesterday a lot and I can only repeat that these hooligans will not stop the Croatian national team and out players. They will not crush our dreams. We will become only stronger after this incident because the Croatian national team has shown during these Euros that it is a symbol of our patriotism, a symbol of love for Croatia. We have shown great commitment, togetherness and excellence and that is what we are going to keep on doing for the rest of the tournament. I hope the hooligans that embarrassed Croatia and the national team will be held to account by somebody for the actions they took yesterday."

SOUNDBITE (English) Tomislav Pacak, Croatian Football Federation spokesperson (on the Croatian fan behaviour)

"We would like to apologise to the spectators at the match, the TV views and the Czech team for the incident that our hooligans created yesterday. Once again the Croatian Football Federation condemns all kinds of racist behaviour, discrimination, violence at the stadium. Unfortunately our hands are tied in dealing with the hooligans. Before the match the Croatian Federation did everything in its power to distribute and communicate all information to the Croatian police and the French police to UEFA."

SOUNDBITE (Croatian) Ante Cacic, Croatia head coach (on the injury to Luka Modric)

"We'll see how Luka feels in the next couple days so it's not definite yet. However if he's not able to play we have to find a different solution. We have good players and we can change the system a little bit if necessary. Certainly Luka is a fantastic and brilliant player and it is a handicap for Croatia if he cannot play."
