Few thought we would qualify - Conte

2016-06-18 08:03:00 from:SNTV

Italy head coach Antonio Conte spoke of the "great satisfaction" he felt after Italy qualified for the knockout stages of Euro 2016 with a 1-0 win over Sweden while his counterpart Erik Hamren was left to rue his side's scoring troubles.

SOUNDBITE: (Italian) Antonio Conte, Italy head coach: (On qualifying for the knockout stages)

"It's a great satisfaction for all of us because I think few thought we would of qualified for the knockout stages after just two games. So it's emotional to have got through to the round of 16 in two games."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Erik Hamren, Sweden head coach (On none of his players having managed to score at Euro 2016 thus far)

"Of course I would be more happy if we had scored some goals, but we do our best. Against Ireland we had some really, really close (chances). Not on the goal, but close. Today we met a really strong defensive team. Even Belgium who are a really good Belgium, who in my opinion are a really good offensive team, didn't score against Italy too. So of course we want to create more big chances, but I assure you we try."
