O'Neil: 'Belgium full of talent and very dangerous'

2016-06-16 07:02:00 from:SNTV

Jonathan Walters did not train on Wednesday (15th June) and looks set to miss Republic of Ireland's Group E game with Belgium with an Achilles injury.

SOUNDBITE (English) Martin O'Neill, Republic of Ireland manager:

(on the suggestion that Belgium didn't quite click in the game against Italy)

"No, I'm not sure about that at all. I'm not sure. I think myself, if you look at them, I think they have possibly the most talented set of individual players at the tournament, that would be my view of them. I think they're very, very dangerous. The Italian game was obviously going to be difficult anyway, they had three or four chances in the game to score, didn't take them. It will be a tough night for us. We want to try and make it tough for them as well."

SOUNDBITE (English) Martin O'Neill, Republic of Ireland manager:

(on Jonathan Walters' fitness)

"He's going to be struggling. He's going to be struggling for the game. He thinks if he doesn't make this game he's hoping he might make it for the Italian game."

(Question: At which point will you rule him out?)

O'Neill: "He would have to do a lot of improving, there would have to be a lot of improvement for him to come through and be ready for it so.. If the game was tomorrow he wouldn't make it."
