Wilmots wary of much criticised Italian team

2016-06-13 08:42:00 from:SNTV

Coach Marc Wilmots and midfielder Eden Hazard looked ahead on Sunday (12th June) to Belgium's opening Group E match against Italy as the team trained at Stade de Lyon.

SOUNDBITE: (French) Marc Wilmots, Belgium coach (Q: You said earlier that you should have wanted to play Italy in last...Could you explain why?):

"A victory will put us in the best condition, a loss will affect us all...it's kind of logical. This is the most prestigious opponent, and the most difficult to start in this group. We've got no time to grow up in this tournament we need to be there on first game."

SOUNDBITE: (French) Marc Wilmots, Belgium coach (Q: All fans and journalists in Italy say that it's the worse team from the past 20 years...do you agree with that?):

"I think they're a dangerous team when they're on their backs. They've got high level players in this high level tournament. They've got a coach who can prepare a team like warriors. He took a lot of players who can have high capacity in running fast for long. It's dangerous. I think you saw France against Romania, you saw that all teams are capable of causing problems and potentially getting good results. So I think we know what to expect tomorrow."

SOUNDBITE: (French) Eden Hazard, Belgium captain (Q: What do you think of the Italian Team? And their coach Conte will be your next coach at Chelsea?):

"I'm very happy to play against my next coach...I hope to show him all I can do on the field and next year that he can count on me."

SOUNDBITE: (French) Marc Wilmots, Belgium coach (Q: There's a lot of expectation in your country...how do you deal with that? They think you are already in final...):

"I think that hope is something wonderful. We had some very good results in the past four years so it's a bit normal that fans have some expectations. We hope to give our fans some happiness."
